A Fun & Learn night for business leaders

Business Brilliance Through Boardgames.

A workshop that combines education and entertainment, and gives business owners lessons that last a lifetime. You will play. You will decide. You will compete. And you will discover what your own business has been trying to teach you.

01 The game LEVERAGE, the game of business

Your business is a game. Are you playing it like a CEO?

LEVERAGE is an award winning business game, and the only format I have found that combines real education with a genuinely good evening out. That combination is the whole trick. People let their guard down, and then they learn something.

You play
Each person takes a business and makes the calls: pricing, marketing spend, hiring, capacity, cash. Round after round, under constraints that will feel uncomfortably familiar.
You decide
Every decision shows up in the numbers on the next turn. Not in three quarters, not in a debrief months later. Now, in front of everyone at the table.
You compete
Against the other owners in the room, which changes how people play. Nobody drifts. Everybody is paying attention by round two.
Then we talk
The board is not the point. The point is the pattern each person just revealed about how they really decide under pressure. Nobody argues with a decision they watched themselves make.
02 What you will discover Takeaways, not theory

Come to play the game. Leave with a new perspective on your business.

Not a framework to file away. Four things owners consistently walk out with, and two libraries of strategies they keep coming back to.

Better decisions
Make your move, see what happens, learn from it. By round three you stop guessing and start reading the board. Most owners never get that many cycles of feedback in a whole year.
The power of leverage
Doing more with less, by leveraging money, people and opportunities. Most owners leverage none of the three and try to make up the difference with hours.
Risk, and the opportunity in it
Take a risk in a room where it costs you nothing but the game, and find out what you actually do when the stakes go up. That is worth knowing before it happens with your own money.
The bigger picture
Step out of the daily grind and think strategically, which is close to impossible at your own desk on a Tuesday with the phone ringing.
And two libraries you take home
282 Strategies

To attract more customers, more revenue and more profit. You will not use all of them. You will find the three that fit your business.

84 More strategies

To build a high quality team and systemise the business, so it stops depending entirely on you being in the room.

A scorecard
Most owners track revenue and very little else. You will leave knowing the handful of numbers that actually tell you how your business is doing.
Test and measure
How to see the effect of a strategic decision before you bet the year on it. The game makes that visible in a way a spreadsheet never manages, because you feel the consequence in the next round.
03 On film Easier to watch than to describe

This is the part I cannot write down.

The noise in the room, the arguments at the tables, the moment somebody realises what they have just done to their own balance sheet. Ninety seconds of it will tell you more than this whole page.

Organisers book this as the event itself, not as a taster for something I am selling afterwards. That is the part I am proudest of. A group pays for an evening their members will talk about, and I get to do the thing I enjoy most in front of a room full of owners.

06 Your facilitator Who is running the night
Sanjay Kanakia

I am not facilitating this from the outside.

I am a certified Leadership and Business Coach from ActionCOACH, USA, a certified facilitator from the Dale Carnegie Institute, and I have completed the Deep Coaching Intensive at the Center for Transformational Coaching, Canada.

More usefully for a room of owners: I am a second generation manufacturer. My brother and I run Cemetile, started in 1964, making interlocking pavers, tiles, retaining wall systems and precast items, and taking on the laying as turnkey projects. I joined in 1996 and I am still there.

So when somebody at a table says the game is unrealistic because no real business would ever do that, I usually have a story about the year I did exactly that.
